Word from the Minister
Forty-four years of sharing and discovering!
For 44 years, the Québec Mines + Énergie convention has showcased scientific knowledge and innovation in the mining and energy sectors in Québec and facilitated networking among stakeholders in these sectors. The enthusiasm of the participants, the passion of the speakers and the richness of its program all contribute to making this event a must-attend.
Under the theme “Responsible development of our resources: a pledge of prosperity,” the event illustrates why Québec remains one of the world’s most attractive and promising mining regions. Critical and strategic minerals, mining restoration, modernization of the Mining Act and geoscientific advances will be featured in this 45th edition. The focus will also be on Québec’s energy potential, which is essential to the economy’s decarbonization, the successes of the mining and energy industries, and the importance of transparency to local communities to promote the social acceptability of mining.
In addition to the short courses available to participants, the “Discovery” component offers exciting activities that will engage youth from grade 4 to secondary II with the importance of mineral and energy resources in their everyday lives. College and university students in earth sciences and mining are also invited to participate in four challenges to win one of the scholarships offered. A total of $14,000 in scholarships will be awarded by the Québec Mines + Énergie organization.
Responsible development of our resources requires the synergy of the mining and energy sectors. The various stakeholders must share their knowledge to achieve broader objectives: to offer social, economic, and environmental benefits to Québec society as a whole and take effective action for Québec’s energy transition.
Let us be proud of the Québec Mines + Énergie convention, which has made this knowledge-sharing possible for 44 years.
Enjoy the convention!
