In a context of growing energy demand, energy transition and carbon neutrality, this session aims to explore the levers of a resilient, reliable and decarbonized energy mix in Quebec. It is part of the work surrounding the development of the Integrated Energy Resources Management Plan, which aims to provide the Government of Québec with a strategic framework to plan for the long-term evolution of the energy system. The reflections and exchanges resulting from this session will feed into the strategic orientations and decisions that will be taken in the coming months to shape Quebec’s energy future.

This session will be available in both French and English.

Towards Less and Better: Rethinking Business for the Energy Transition

Conference details

This conference offers a concrete and strategic perspective on the ongoing transformations in the business world in response to the energy transition. Titled “Less and Better,” it draws on field experience gained from working with companies engaged in reducing their carbon footprint and adapting to a new energy context.

From these engagements, several observations emerge: the energy transition is not limited to technological substitution or optimization of existing systems. It requires a fundamental rethinking of production models, value chains, and even the very ways energy is used. For businesses, this means redefining performance through the lenses of sobriety, efficiency, and resilience.

The conference thus addresses the key challenges identified through these initiatives. For many companies, the energy transition represents a systemic transformation that remains difficult to decode: traditional benchmarks are shifting, priorities are evolving, and future pathways remain uncertain. In this context, several tensions arise, including trade-offs between investments, innovation, regulatory constraints, and the new expectations of customers and talent.

This presentation provides an overview of the levers of action already deployed on the ground and outlines possible trajectories for integrating the principles of “less and better” into corporate energy strategies starting today.
