Quebec is seeking to develop a greener gas network, and the consumption of renewable natural gas (RNG) could be an effective solution for decarbonizing the industrial sector. The availability of RNG and its benefits for industrial customers will be discussed. The potential of RNG to decarbonize the heavy transport essential to the industrial sector, will also be analyzed.

Conference details

Renewable natural gas (RNG) is playing an increasingly important role in North America, thanks to a growing number of programs adopted by provincial, state and federal governments. Interest in RNG to decarbonize hard-to-electrify sectors is also growing. This conference will present an overview of the North American RNG market today, and answer the following questions: Where are projects developing? What are the main sources of RNG? How fast is the sector developing? The presentation will also explore the role of RNG in decarbonizing heavy transport and the industry. An overview of current incentives will be presented, as well as avenues for generating higher demand for renewable gas in the industrial sector. RNG Coalition will share statistics and information based on over a decade of experience as the voice of the renewable gas sector.

RNG’s Potential for Industrial Decarbonization

Conference details

Énergir's vision and the decarbonization of its customers are based, among other things, on renewable natural gas. As a leader in Quebec's RNG sector, Energir is investing a great deal of effort in developing and demystifying the product in order to bring it to market. RNG is available to all Energir customers, including the industrial sector. Currently, this sector consumes more than 75% of the RNG volumes distributed by Energir. In this conference, we will discuss the contribution of RNG to decarbonization, production prospects and how industrial customers can integrate it into their consumption.

RNG in Heavy Transport: Towards Carbon-Free Operational Flexibility

Conference details

With transport accounting for 43% of GHG emissions in Quebec, and heavy transport for 12.5% of emissions for 2% of the road network, it would appear difficult for the industry to maintain the status quo. For heavy transport professionals, there are several energy sources that can be used to reduce emissions. Compressed natural gas, and especially renewable compressed natural gas, are alternatives that offer significant reductions in GHG emissions, while retaining the advantages of the traditional fuels currently in use.

Prevost, on the Road to Carbon Neutrality

Conference details

The vision of Prevost, a division of Volvo Group Canada, is to have a carbon-neutral plant and product. Achieving this goal is a long and sometimes winding road. In this conference, you'll see how Prevost's Sainte-Claire plant in the Bellechasse region is implementing various projects aimed at reducing its greenhouse gas emissions, including its transition to renewable natural gas.
