Nicolas Juneau

After earning a bachelor’s degree in biology and a master’s degree in environment, Nicolas Juneau first worked in the university and private sectors, before joining the Quebec public service, where he has been working for over twenty years.

In 2002, Juneau joined the Ministère de l’Environnement et de la Lutte contre les changements climatiques, de la Faune et des Parcs (MELCCFP), where he held positions as project manager and coordinator in the residual matter and environmental assessment sectors. He worked on the analysis of road, wind and waste disposal projects, as well as on regulatory development.

Starting in 2011, Mr. Juneau will work as a manager in the Forest Protection Branch of the Ministère des Ressources naturelles et des Forêts. In this role, he contributed to the deployment of the spruce budworm control program. In 2015, he rejoined the MELCCFP as Director of Residual Matter, where he contributed primarily to the sector’s legislative and regulatory development, the elaboration of the government’s Stratégie sur la valorisation de la matière organique (Strategy on the Valorization of Organic Matter) and the implementation of the Programme de traitement de la matière organique par biométhanisation et compostage (Program for the Treatment of Organic Matter by Biomethanization and Composting).

Since 2020, Juneau has been Director General of Clean Fuels and Reservoirs at the current Ministère de l’Économie, de l’Innovation et de l’Énergie, where he puts his experience and skills to good use in developing an environment conducive to the deployment of Quebec’s renewable natural gas industry
