Alain Sans Cartier

Alain Sans Cartier has over thirty years of experience working in both the public and private sectors. His diversified career has given him a strategic vision of socio-economic issues and a pragmatic approach to management.

Mr. Sans Cartier joined Québec’s senior public service in December 2019 as associate secretary general at the Ministère du Conseil exécutif. Among other things, he was responsible for the Ministerial Committee on Economy and the Environment. He then served as deputy minister of Education.

Mr. Sans Cartier was previously the vice-president of Public Affairs and Strategic Partnerships at the Québec Port Authority. His mandate included the development of the port’s international relations.

In the 2000s, Mr. Sans Cartier was chief of staff at the National Assembly, and, in the 1990s, he worked for the Montréal mayor and as chief of staff to the chairman of the Montréal Catholic School Commission. As well as being a business executive, Mr. Sans Cartier has worked as a public affairs consultant and as senior director of a major communications agency. He began his career in the federal government working for the Minister of Labour.

Mr. Sans Cartier has sat on the boards of directors of both public and private organizations.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the Université de Montréal. He was appointed deputy minister of International Relations and Francophonie on 21 October 2022.
