Land reserved to the State for public development purposes

Under the Mining Act picto-fleche, 5% of every area covered by a mining lease, mining concession or lease to mine surface mineral substances and situated on lands in the domain of the State is reserved to the State.

The boundaries of land reserved to the State for public development purposes are not shown on the map of mining titles picto-fleche. The Department notifies the mining right holder of the location of the portion of land reserved to the State, where it is required for public development purposes.

  • Mining operations are prohibited on land reserved to the State, unless authorization is obtained from the Department.
