An Act to amend the Mining Act and other provisions (2024, c. 36) came into force on November 29, 2024, with the exception of certain provisions. The text of the amended Mining Act prevails. Please refer to the notice of coming into effect for details.

Conditions relating to the Sainte-Marguerite reserve

The Ministère de l’Énergie et des Ressources naturelles is authorizing mineral exploration in the Sainte-Marguerite Reserve under certain conditions.

  • Exploration work must not hinder the operation and sustainability of current Hydro-Québec infrastructures.
  • If necessary, Hydro-Québec is reserving the right to modify management of the rivière Sainte-Marguerite and to set additional conditions.
  • For land located near the Sainte-Marguerite 3 dam, the mining rights holder must make sure that vibrations from blasting will have no effect on Hydro-Québec facilities.
  • Any work requiring machinery within a 22.5 metre radius of the Arnaud-SM 3 transmission line and within the limits of the transformer station must be the subject of a special request to Hydro-Québec, to the attention of:

  • No mining lease on this territory or the adjoining territory will be issued without Hydro-Québec’s consent.
  • Work must be carried out in compliance with environmental standards and regulations. Any failure to comply with these obligations could result in the claims being revoked.
