Regional offices
Because of the changes to the Mining Act, references to regional offices designated by ministerial order have been removed. Since December 10, 2013, regional offices can no longer receive documents and provide services of a legal nature relating to the Mining Act. Accordingly, the following Mines services have been discontinued:
- Reception of legal documents: work declarations, lease applications, title transfer applications and related instruments
- Issuance and renewal of prospecting licenses
- Any financial transaction or request for information in the client account
All legal documents must be sent directly by the client to the Direction des titres miniers et des systèmes (DTMS), in Québec. The date of receipt is the official date of filing of the document.
Keep in mind that many services are available on the GESTIM Plus website . They include electronic forms to apply for staking tags and exploration licenses. You can check your account balance under My Documents and My Balance and Profile. To become a privileged member, fill out the form on the GESTIM Plus website. For more information, contact client services at 1 800 363 7233, ext. 5451.
This reorganization is part of the Online Government policy initiated a few years ago. Its objectives include administrative simplification and self-management by the Government’s clients.
