Generative AI Fundamentals for Geologists, Geochemists and Geophysicists

November 17 2025, 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.
(Offered only in French)

Regular rate: $50

Student rate: $20

Workshop Organizer: Henri Blondelle (Agile Data Decisions)

During this workshop, we will explore the fundamental algorithms that have driven the spectacular progress of artificial intelligence over the past five years.

This workshop is designed for geoscientists who want to gain a clear understanding of generative AI—its current and future capabilities, as well as its limitations.

The following topics will be covered:

  • introduction to generative AI and historical overview of its evolution;
  • text generation models: recurrent neural networks, transformers, autoregressive models, and autoencoders;
  • image generation: generative adversarial networks (GANs) and diffusion models;
  • multimodal models: combining text, image, and other data types;
  • demonstrations and use cases.

Feel free to bring your laptop—we’ll work through a few examples using Jupyter Notebooks to illustrate the concepts presented.
