The Current Status and Future Development Prospects of RNG in Quebec

Conference details

With decarbonization at the centre of its vision, Énergir is focusing on this renewable energy source, which is set to play an increasingly important role in the future energy mix. In a context where the circular economy, energy security and local production are more important than ever, Énergir aims to accelerate the development of Quebec’s renewable natural gas (RNG) sector to increase its local supply.

With nine projects currently being injected into its network, five under construction, and around ten others having received investment subsidies from the Quebec government, the RNG sector is developing in Quebec. However, it has yet to reach its full, albeit very real, potential in the province. In this conference, Clément Bekaert, Énergir’s Director of RNG Supply and Development, will discuss the role of RNG in the company’s vision, the current state of the sector in Quebec and its development prospects, and the key factors that could accelerate its growth.

From Raw Materials to Energy: A Look Back at RNG Operations in Varennes

Conference details

Since its commissioning, the SEMECS plant has been recovering organic matter and producing renewable natural gas (RNG), which is then injected into the Energir network. This conference will present the plant's achievements and challenges, and share the valuable lessons learned, demonstrating how RNG can contribute to Québec's energy transition.
