Wassim Kanso

Filgo/Sonic

Since the start of his career, Wassim Kanso has been interested in the technological, organizational and strategic levers for accelerating the energy transition in the transport (road and rail) and energy distribution sectors. He holds a master’s degree in engineering and is senior director of Energy Transition at Filgo, where he develops and implements structuring decarbonization projects for a sustainable and resilient Québec.

Filgo, a leader in retail energy transport and distribution since 1965, is making an ambitious shift towards cleaner solutions. In 2025, under Wassim’s leadership, the group inaugurated a multi-energy station in Saint-Germain-de-Grantham offering compressed renewable natural gas (C-RNG) for heavy trucks and fast charging stations. It has introduced one of the first C-RNG-powered X15N trucks to Québec, deployed charging stations at Filgo sites and on customer premises, and supervised the installation in Laval of the most powerful charging station in the province, capable of delivering 400 kW on a single charging port. He is also working on the integration of innovative technologies, such as ground-based electric charging for public transport and ports, as well as hydrogen.

His expertise covers strategic planning, leading large-scale transformations, managing major projects and optimizing costs. Active in a number of governance bodies, Wassim is executive vice-president of Hydrogène Québec and sits on the boards of the Association de l’industrie électrique du Québec and the Chambre de commerce et d’industrie de Laval. He builds bridges between energy strategy and action on the ground, taking into account technical, economic and political challenges.
