
Valérye Desbiens
Valérye Desbiens is a metallurgical engineer. After graduating from Université Laval with a degree in metallurgical engineering in 2009, she began her career as a process engineer at the Bloom Lake iron ore mine. She worked at the heart of mining operations there for six years. In 2016, she joined Coalia’s Centre for Technology in the Mineral and Plastics Sector, successively holding the positions of Coordinator and Director of Mineral Sector Operations. Since 2021, she has been a senior metallurgical engineer at the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forests, where she uses her expertise to support the responsible and innovative development of Quebec’s mining sector. Valérye is recognized for her rigorous vision and commitment to advancing metallurgical knowledge, thanks to her background combining fieldwork, management and technical expertise.
