Valérie Bécu
Valérie Bécu completed a master’s degree in Earth sciences at the INRS Eau, Terre et Environnement centre in 2005. Following roles as a geologist in the mining industry and as coordinator of a research network, she joined the Québec office of the Geological Survey of Canada as a geoscience specialist in 2008. She contributes to various research groups studying the genesis and distribution of gold and base and critical metal deposits, providing a detailed geological context to support the sustainable development of natural resources. She devotes most of her time to the activities of the Targeted Geoscience Initiative, a flagship public geoscience program in Canada that is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year.
