Transport ferroviaire Tshiuetin

Thérèse Ambroise is an Innu from the community of Uashat Mak Mani-Utenam, and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Engineering from the École de technologie supérieure de Montréal. Currently a railway engineer with Transport Ferroviaire Tshiuetin, she actively contributes to the maintenance and safety of the railroad line linking Emeril, Labrador, to Schefferville, Quebec. Tshiuetin, meaning “North Wind” in the Innu language, is the first rail line in North America to be wholly owned and operated by First Nations, making the company a pioneering model in Aboriginal autonomy and infrastructure. At the same time, Thérèse has a varied background in infrastructure and housing management, having held executive positions with Innu Takuaikan Uashat Mak Mani-Utenam. Her background demonstrates a mastery of technical issues in an aboriginal community context, as well as expertise in managing projects that meet the specific needs and challenges of her community.
