Sylvain Lortie

In addition to his academic background in mineral technology and earth sciences, Sylvain Lortie holds a master’s degree in environment from the Université du Québec à Montréal. Over the course of his career, he has worked for several companies where he built a strong foundation of experience, such as IAMGOLD Corporation, QMX Gold Corporation, and Stavibel. He has also served as the chair of the environmental committee for the MISA group since 2015.

At Eldorado Gold Québec, Sylvain first held the position of superintendent of environmental operations starting in July 2018, and became director of environment in 2021.

He specializes in environmental research and development projects related to mining, as well as in managing and coordinating mine site restoration work. He is also recognized for his expertise in environmental and regulatory control of mining operations and the development of environmental management systems. Beyond his technical skills, Sylvain is committed to fostering authentic collaboration with all internal and external stakeholders involved in mining operations. His abilities bring people together towards a common goal of sustainable development.
