Simon Dumais
Simon Dumais is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mining, Metallurgical, and Materials Engineering at Université Laval, where he also serves as the Director of the undergraduate program in Mining and Mineral Processing Engineering.
His research expertise focuses on cold regions geotechnics and northern mining engineering. His work is concretely applied to the performance of transportation infrastructure and the management of mine tailings in a permafrost context.
He directly translates this expertise into his teaching, notably through a specialized course in mining geotechnics focused on the sustainable management of mine waste. In doing so, he imparts practical and current skills to the next generation of engineers.
Professor Dumais is committed to training engineers with a strong social conscience. He prepares them to integrate practices that promote sustainable mining development, in order to reconcile resource extraction with respect for the environment and local communities.
