Serge Bédard
Mr. Bédard holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and a master’s degree in energy engineering from École Polytechnique de Montréal. He currently leads a team of 40 engineers and researchers in the field of industrial process optimization at CanmetENERGY in Varennes, a research centre of Natural Resources Canada.
Mr. Bédard has 28 years of experience in carrying out energy and decarbonization analyses for the industrial sector, mainly for pulp and paper mills, oil refineries, as well as petrochemical, metallurgical and agri-food plants. His main areas of expertise are heat recovery, the optimization of cogeneration systems, the electrification of industrial processes and the efficient use of bioenergy and hydrogen in industrial processes. Mr. Bédard is a member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec.
