Sarah Dare

UQAC

Sarah Dare graduated from the University of Cambridge, UK, in 2003 (B.A. and M.Sc.) and received her PhD from Cardiff University, UK, in 2008. She did postdoctoral work at UQAC on magmatic deposits (Ni-Cu-PGE sulphides and Fe-Ti-V-P oxides) between 2008 and 2014. Sarah was a professor at the University of Ottawa (2014 – 2018) before returning to UQAC as a professor in 2018, where she holds a Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in Applied Geochemistry of Ore Deposits. Since 2020, she has been the Director of LabMaTer, a world-renowned geochemical laboratory for the analysis of deposit materials. Her research interests include the study of magmatic deposits and their host intrusions. She specializes in developing mineral chemistry (sulphides, Fe oxides, apatite) to unravel ore formation processes and develop indicator minerals for exploration. Sarah has received two Young Scientist Awards from the Mineral Deposits Division of the Geological Association of Canada in 2016 and from the Society for Applied Geology to Metallic Deposits (SGA) in 2017. She has been awarded the title of Thayer Lindsley Visiting Lecturer by the Society of Economic Geologists for 2024.
