Paul Archer
Mr. Paul Archer holds a bachelor’s degree in geological engineering and a master’s degree in earth sciences. He has nearly 40 years of experience in the mining industry, with a particular focus on gold and base metal exploration in Archean terranes. Mr. Archer joined the Virginia Mines team on 1 May 1996 as Vice-President of Exploration and Acquisitions and Director. Mr. Archer was instrumental in the discovery and development of the Éléonore project, from the initial fieldwork to the completion of the sale of the deposit to Goldcorp. From November 2014 until his retirement in July 2017, he was a member of Osisko’s management team following its merger with Virginia. Mr. Archer was elected President of the Quebec Prospectors Association in 1996 and 1997. In recent years, he has received several prestigious awards on behalf of Virginia, including the PDAC’s Bill Dennis Award in 2006 for the discovery of the Éléonore deposit. He also received the Hector Authier Award from the QMEA in October 2017 for his lifetime achievement.
