Milad Aghabararnejad

Milad Aghabararnejad is a Senior Engineer and Acting Manager at CanmetENERGY, Natural Resources Canada. He holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering and has extensive expertise in the simulation, design, and modeling of thermochemical processes for biomass conversion.

In his current role, Milad leads the Industrial Decarbonisation team—a multidisciplinary group of engineers and researchers working on innovative projects that support the decarbonization of heavy industry. These projects span industrial electrification, hydrogen and biomass utilization, net-zero modeling, and process optimization. The team brings deep experience in sectors such as iron and steel, cement, aluminum, pulp and paper, and refining.

Milad’s work plays a pivotal role in advancing sustainable technologies and reducing CO₂ emissions across Canada’s industrial landscape.
