Mehdi Amine Guemache

Mehdi Guemache holds a doctorate in earth sciences from the University of Algiers (USTHB), Algeria. He began his career as a geology lecturer at the same university, before working for some years as a researcher on geological hazards and general geology at the Centre of Research in Astronomy, Astrophysics, and Geophysics in Algiers. On his arrival in Quebec and after a brief spell at UQAM, he moved to Val-d’Or to work in mineral exploration for junior companies and in mining at the Sigma-Lamaque gold mine until its closure in 2012. He then joined the Ministère des Ressources naturelles et de la Faune as a mapping geologist and then as coordinator of the Quebec Stratigraphic Lexicon. In early 2024, he joined the Direction de l’expertise des réservoirs géologiques at the Ministère de l’Économie, de l’Innovation et de l’Énergie.
