Martin Grenon
Dr. Martin Grenon is currently the vice-dean of research at Université Laval’s Faculty of Science and Engineering. He has over 20 years of experience in mining engineering and rock mechanics. His research focuses on the characterization of rock masses for mining applications. He has worked on slope stability in open-pit mines during the conceptual, operational and closure stages, on the influence of geological and geotechnical properties of rock mass on seismic responses associated with mining activities in deep underground mines, and on the influence of permafrost conditions on the stability of underground mining excavations. Dr. Grenon has been an active member of the Rock Engineering Society of the Canadian Institute of Mining (CIM), serving as its president from 2015 to 2017. He also served as president of the Canadian Rock Mechanics Association (CARMA) from 2015 to 2017. He has been editor-in-chief of the CIM Magazine since 2014 and associate editor of the Canadian Geotechnical Journal since 2017. He is currently the North America vice-president for the International Society for Rock Mechanics (ISRM).
