Laura Calugaru
Iuliana Laura Calugaru is a project manager at the Centre technologique des résidus industriels (CTRI) and a chemistry teacher at the Cégep de l’Abitibi-Témiscamingue. Laura has degrees in chemistry (University of Bucharest, 1996), economics (Wallachian University of Targoviste, 2004) and mineral engineering (master’s degree UQAT 2014 and doctorate UQAT 2019 – on the subject of modifying natural materials and tailings to improve the retention of metals and metalloids from mine drainage). Laura works in the active and passive treatment of mine effluents, the prediction of mine drainage water quality, the chemical leaching of metals from various matrices, and the valorization of various underutilized natural resources, by-products and tailings.
