Etienne Brouard

Commission géologique du Canada

Étienne Brouard holds a doctorate in geology from Université Laval (Québec) and is a research scientist for the Geological Survey of Canada. Specializing in Quaternary geology, glacial dynamics and landscape evolution, he combines field mapping and remote sensing, GIS modelling, geochronology and geochemistry to reconstruct the past behaviour of ice sheets and their interactions with the climate, ocean and lithosphere. He works mainly in Nunavut and Québec, where his research focuses on glacial lake modelling and deglaciation history. He is the principal author of two major references for Quaternary research and resource assessment in Quebec: Carte de la géologie de surface du Québec and Carte glaciaire du Québec.
