Esmaeil Jorjani, P.Eng., Ph.D., is a Senior Metallurgist at the Centre technologique des résidus industriels (CTRI) in Rouyn-Noranda, Québec. With over 25 years of combined academic and industrial experience in mineral processing and hydrometallurgy, he has collaborated on projects involving critical and strategic minerals such as lithium, nickel, niobium, and rare earth elements. His expertise includes lithium extraction from spodumene, lithium-ion battery recycling, and the bioleaching of low-grade nickel ores. He has also contributed to studies on copper leaching, flotation, and the processing of zinc, lead, iron, bauxite, gold, and coal. His research interests encompass atmospheric and high-pressure leaching, purification of pregnant leach solutions, precipitation, and physical separation and flotation techniques. He remains actively engaged in developing and collaborating on innovative projects that advance sustainable mineral and metal extraction technologies.
