Christine Duchesneau
Ms. Christine Duchesneau is the first woman to hold the position of President and CEO and member of the Board of Directors of the Institut national des mines du Québec (INMQ). Since her arrival at the Institute in 2022, Ms. Duchesneau has consolidated the actions taken by the organization to carry out studies and promising projects for the Quebec mining sector: hybrid and electric mining machinery, the impact of processing critical and strategic minerals on Quebec’s mining training: the case of lithium and graphite mines, recognition of prior learning and skills for workers with experience in the industry and vocational training for First Nations and Inuit are just some of the organization’s achievements. She has also contributed to demystifying the mining sector and its training in order to actively participate in the effort to attract younger and older people to training programs leading to the mining sector by creating Québec.ca/formation-minière.
Ms. Duchesneau previously worked for the Ministère des Ressources naturelles (Forestry sector) in the 1990s, before joining the Ministère du Travail, de l’Emploi et de la Solidarité sociale in various professional and management positions for nearly 25 years, including 12 years as Director of Public Employment Services.
Ms. Duchesneau holds a master’s degree in organizational management – research profile, a graduate diploma in public administration and a bachelor’s degree in business administration. In 2015, she submitted a thesis on the factors likely to contribute to the shattering of the glass ceiling, describing the career ceiling for women.
