Azam Soltanmohammadi
Azam Soltanmohammadi is a Research Scientist at the Geological Survey of Canada. She earned her PhD in France (Université Paul Sabatier) and then completed a postdoctoral fellowship on anorthosites and Fe-Ti-P mineralization at UQAC. Her research focuses on igneous petrology, particularly on understanding the magmatic processes responsible for the formation and distribution of critical metal deposits. She is especially interested in the complex relationship between the origin of mantle-derived magmas and the large-scale processes that control the genesis of magmatic deposits of alkali and rare metals, Ni-Cu-PGE, Cr, and Fe-Ti-V-(P). She has proposed several new models to explain the origin of mantle-derived magmas in complex geological settings. By employing multidisciplinary research approaches, she aims to decipher the petrogenetic and geochemical signatures of magmatic systems associated with alkali and rare metals in the Grenville Province.
