Ariane Locat

Ariane Locat is a full professor in the Department of Civil and Water Engineering at the Université Laval in Québec City. Her research focuses on the geotechnical characterization of landslides, the mechanical behaviour of sensitive clays and the numerical modelling of stresses and strains during movement in clay embankments. She is the coordinator of the Laboratoire d’études sur les risques naturels (www.lern.fsg.ulaval.ca), which was set up to improve understanding of the various forms of natural hazards with the aim of reducing their impact on people and infrastructure in Quebec, Canada and abroad.
