Marjorie Simard

Mines Agnico Eagle

Marjorie Simard holds a B.Sc. (2002) and an M.Sc. (2005) from Université Laval in Québec City, as well as a Ph.D. from Université du Québec à Chicoutimi in 2011. She studied the geological context of IOCG deposits in Paleozoic terranes for her master’s thesis, and the context of gold deposits in Archean terranes for her doctoral thesis. She has authored and co-authored 4 scientific papers and more than 15 conferences and publications. She has over 15 years of experience in the industry, first as Project Geologist for the Exploration Division of Agnico-Eagle Mines Ltd. (2011-2017), Sr. Modeling Geologist (2017-2020), Modeling Coordinator (2020-2021), Assistant Superintendent Geology (2021-2023) and now as Superintendent Geology at Agnico-Eagle Technical Services (2023 to present). She was involved in Agnico-Eagle Mines Ltd.’s new gold discovery in Nunavut, the Amaruq project (2013). She now manages a team of 20 specialists in processes directly related to resource estimates, working closely with all Agnico-Eagle divisions from Exploration to Operations. She is currently working on the application of geological and structural concepts that characterize gold deposits to build better geological and economic models used for resource calculations.
