Université Laval

Marc Constantin holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in geology from Université Laval and a doctorate in geosciences from the Université de Bretagne Occidentale. He was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Toronto and Laurentian University. A professor in the Department of Geology and Geological Engineering since 2000, he teaches petrology, geochemistry and micro-analysis methods. He has many years of experience in these fields, as well as in the metallogeny of magmatic and hydrothermal deposits. He recently developed an interest in geometallurgy, particularly in innovative methods for characterizing mineralization during the exploration and mining operation phases. As such, he is actively pursuing research aimed at developing laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) applied to the quantitative measurement of trace metals and mineral identification.
