Manon Cyr

Ms. Manon Cyr is a Quebec politician and economic development consultant. Mayor of Chibougamau since 2009, she is the first woman to hold this position. She has been President of the Eeyou-Istchee-Baie-James Regional Government, the only regional government in Quebec, since 2022 and also from 2014 to 2016 and from 2018 to 2020.

Ms. Cyr holds degrees in political science and regional planning and development from Université Laval. She worked for various ministries and public organizations before entering municipal politics. She has been involved in a number of economic and social development projects in her region, notably in connection with the Plan Nord and the mining industry.

Ms. Cyr has received numerous awards and distinctions for her leadership and community involvement. She was named Personality of the Year 2012 by Le Quotidien, Woman of Exception 2013 by the Réseau des femmes d’affaires du Québec and Political Personality of the Year 2014 by Radio-Canada.
