Madalina Ivanica

Deputy Head of Unit

Madalina Ivanica is Deputy Head of Unit in the European Commission – Unit on Energy Intensive Industries, Raw Materials and Hydrogen of the Directorate-General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs in January 2022. She has been previously working in the Directorate-General for Environment as Coordinator for Enlargement and as coordinator for inter-institutional relations. Earlier in her career, Ms. Ivanica served as Advisor to the Romanian Chief Negotiator for accession to the European Union. In addition to this, she was Director of Studies and an Associate Professor in European Studies at the Maastricht University. She has published on the economic and social impact of the accession process to the European Union. She has also given numerous conference presentations to major international academic conferences.

Ms. Ivanica received a Ph.D. in economics from the Academy of Economic Sciences in Bucharest and completed three master degrees in European affairs, including one from the Maastricht University. She also holds a B.Sc. (Honours) in Psychology from Open University, London.
