Louis Laferrière

Motivated by sustainable development and community vitality, Louis applies his dual expertise as a manager and environmental specialist to the mission of the Observatoire national de l’amiante (national asbestos observatory, ONA), of which he has been the executive director for two years now. Holding a master’s degree in environmental management and a bachelor’s degree in geography, he has acquired solid experience in the municipal sector and has actively contributed to research projects, notably on monitoring environmental quality in Québec’s national parks. Louis is known for his pragmatic, responsible and strategic vision of the regulatory framework. At the helm of the observatory, he relies on consensus-building, a shared vision of environmental governance and the valuing of knowledge to reconcile the protection of public health and natural environments with the socio-economic development of communities.
