Louis Bienvenu

MRNF

Louis Bienvenu is a mining engineer who graduated from the École Polytechnique de Montréal in December 1972.

He has 50 years of mining engineering to his credit, including 12 years in underground and open-pit mining and 38 years with the Mining Sector now managed by the Ministère des Ressources naturelles et des Forêts.

His government career has been strongly oriented towards Research & Development. He was in charge of a ground control and stability group at the Centre de recherches minérales, then represented the Ministère in various federal-provincial mining R&D agreements.

Since 2013, he has been primarily responsible for establishing and monitoring the MRNF-FRQNT Joint Research Program on Sustainable Development of the Mining Sector, in which the MRNF has invested over $60 million since 2013 to fund some 180 research projects.
