L. Paul Bédard

L. Paul Bédard is a professor at the Université du Québec à Chicoutimi (UQAC) and Director of the Centre d’études sur les ressources minérales.

Academic background: B.Sc. in Geological Engineering, M.Sc. in Earth Sciences and Ph.D. in Mineral Resources from UQAC. Postdoctorate at the Université de Montréal.

Research topics:

  • genesis of niobium and rare earth deposits in carbonatites, and
  • quantitative petrography using artificial intelligence.

Achievements:

  • Development of analytical protocols and reference materials for LabMaTer at UQAC,
  • development of a research program in optical mineral recognition,
  • founder of the Petit musée de minéralogie at UQAC,
  • Author of over 50 peer-reviewed publications.
