Julien Maitre

Julien Maître is an associate professor in the Department of Computer Science and Mathematics at the Université du Québec à Chicoutimi (UQAC), where he also serves as program director. His research focuses primarily on artificial intelligence, deep learning and computer vision, with a particular interest in developing methods applicable to real-world problems.

His research has two main focuses: recognition of human activity in smart environments and automated image analysis in Earth sciences, particularly mineral grain identification and segmentation. He is also interested in self-supervised learning, transformer architectures and the development of multimodal AI systems.

His activities combine fundamental research, software development and industrial applications, with a special emphasis on practical implementation and the assessment of developed methods.
