Dr. Julia Kramer Bernhard, Lead Structural Geology at Anglo American for the past ten years, is a leading expert in applied structural geology with more than 30 years of experience in the mineral exploration industry, government, and academia. She has led specialist teams and site technical staff, mentored geoscientists, and delivered numerous workshops and training courses on structural geology, 3D geological modelling, remote sensing interpretation, field methods, and geological data analysis.

She holds an MSc from the University of Karlsruhe, Germany, and a PhD from the University of Basel, Switzerland. Her international experience encompasses a broad range of deposit types and geological settings, including orogenic and shear zone-hosted gold, epithermal vein-hosted base and precious metals, porphyry Cu-Au, sediment-hosted copper, Cu-Ni-PGE, VMS, diamond, iron ore, skarn, SEDEX, REE, and coal all over the world.

More recently, Dr. Julia Kramer Bernhard has worked closely with the Anglo American Data Science team to develop and implement automated approaches to data collection, analysis, and geological modleling, with a focus on accelerating and streamlining the drilling-to-model workflow. Her work combines deep geological expertise with emerging digital technologies to improve the efficiency, quality, and value of geological interpretation and 3D modelling.
