Juan Bello Rodriguez

Université Laval

Juan was born and raised in Bogotá, Colombia. He attended National University of Colombia for his BSc in geology and graduated in 2014. His early career was marked by his involvement in several precious metal exploration projects in Colombia, ranging from orogenic to porphyry and epithermal systems, where he gained significant industry experience working on the high-grade gold Buritica deposit, before beginning in the government sector at the Colombian Geological Survey, as part of the Metallic Mineral Resources group. His quest for learning about economic geology brought him to Canada, where he studied for his master’s degree in Earth Sciences at Université Laval in the NSERC-Agnico Eagle Industrial Research Chair Mineral Exploration. This work was in mineral exploration and focused on distribution of gold indicator minerals in permafrost areas. He has undertaken a PhD in Earth Sciences at the University of Toronto where his research centers around investigating the distribution of Germanium in sediment-hosted mineral deposits.
