Jessy Thelland

Eldorado Gold Québec

Jessy Thelland was born in Barraute, Abitibi, into a family of diamond drillers. He obtained his DEC in mineral technology with a geology concentration in 1996, and his bachelor’s degree in Earth Sciences from the Université du Québec à Chicoutimi in 2002.

Over the course of his career, Mr. Thelland has risen through the ranks of various mining companies such as Cambior and Richmont Mines, where his skills have been put to good use on a variety of projects. In 2016, he joined Eldorado Gold Québec as Chief Geologist. His role is to set up the geology department and guide the company through the various steps required to achieve commercial production. Building on this experience, Mr. Thelland was promoted to Superintendent, Technical Services in 2020, before being appointed Director, Technical Services in 2022.

Over the course of his career, Mr. Thelland has acquired extensive expertise in geological modeling, resource evaluation and mine design. His last few years at Richmont and his career at Eldorado Gold Québec enabled him to develop his strategic vision, and solidify his skills in large-scale project and personnel management.
