Jean Hamel

Jean Hamel currently holds the position of Chief Engineer at FPInnovations and has over 30 years of R&D experience in the forest products industry. As Vice President of FPInnovations from 2009 to 2022, Hamel led an innovation program in bio-sourced chemistries and biomaterials and their applications, as well as supporting operational excellence in the forest products industry. Under his leadership, four major demonstration plants have been brought to pre-commercialization for the production of lignin, nanocellulose, cellulose filaments and cellulosic sugars. In addition, between 2017 and 2022, he directed industry relations and partnerships, and intellectual property management.
