Daniel Cliche

Ville de Matagami

Daniel Cliche has been working for the City of Matagami since 1997 and has served as General Manager since 2020. A native of the region, he has gained extensive hands-on experience throughout his career and developed a deep understanding of the realities of northern development, both from the perspective of public institutions and businesses. This experience enables him to bridge their respective expectations and interests.

His overarching goal is to ensure Matagami’s long-term sustainability by building on the community’s resilience and, above all, on its strategic advantages, turning words into action on a daily basis.

Since 2020, he has been leading a development strategy focused, among other things, on strengthening the transportation and logistics sector. He is responsible for the development and expansion of the Matagami Transshipment Yard, a project being carried out in close collaboration with regional project proponents and the Société du Plan Nord. As a hub for mining and energy development in Northern Québec, the transshipment yard is a critical strategic infrastructure and serves as the cornerstone of Matagami’s economic diversification strategy.
