Bruno Bussière is a professor at the Université du Québec en Abitibi-Témiscamingue (UQAT), where he serves as scientific director of the Research Institute on Mines and the Environment (RIME UQAT-Polytechnique). His teaching and research activities focus primarily on methods for reclaiming mine tailings storage areas exposed to different climatic conditions, including the control of acid mine drainage and contaminated neutral drainage. He is also interested in constitutive and numerical modelling of unsaturated flows in soils and mine tailings, the characterization of tailings and waste rock, the impact of climate change on the mining sector, the hydrogeotechnical aspects of mine tailings management, and the prediction of mine water quality.
