Bahman Abbassi

UQAT

Dr Bahman Abbassi holds a B.Sc. in Geology obtained in 2005 and an M.Sc. in Geophysics from the University of Tehran, completed in 2009. He then continued his academic training with a Ph.D. in Environmental Sciences at the Université du Québec (UQAT-UQAM) between 2013 and 2018. His doctoral work focused on 3D inverse modelling of multiple geophysical datasets, using multivariate statistics and machine learning methods to develop a robust 3D integrated interpretation methodology for mineral exploration. Dr Abbassi is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the Université du Québec. His current work involves the development of new tools for the interpretation of multiple sets of geophysical Big Data targeting gold deposits. Dr Abbassi’s research focuses on automating the complex process of integrated interpretation. He works to convert geophysical datasets into usable geological information using advanced techniques such as feature engineering, blind source separation and deep learning.
