Québec Plan for the Development of Critical and Strategic Minerals

Changing technologies are leading to increased consumption of natural resources. Some of them, such as strategic and critical minerals (CSMs), have become indispensable for the development of innovative sectors. Demand for CSMs is growing strongly while their availability is limited. In October 2020, the gouvernement du Québec has announced the implementation of the Québec Plan for the Development of Critical and Strategic Minerals 2020-2025 (QPDCSM) , which stems from a broad public process of reflection with the population and industry stakeholders. While encouraging the creation of sustainable wealth, the QPDCSM contributes to government orientations on energy and technological transition.
