Martin Seto is a forest engineer specializing in forest hydrology. He obtained a bachelor\u2019s degree in forest management and environment in 2004 and a master\u2019s degree in forest science in 2005 from Universit\u00e9 Laval before pursuing doctoral studies at the same institution. His research has focused on the effects of forest operations (logging, road construction, bridge and culvert installation) on watershed hydrology and aquatic ecosystems.<\/p>\r\n
In 2008, he completed a doctoral course in ecotoxicology at the Institut national de la recherche scientifique (Centre Eau, Terre et Environnement). He also taught forest hydrology as a lecturer at Universit\u00e9 Laval from 2007 to 2010 and in 2016.<\/p>\r\n
In 2011, he joined the Direction de l\u2019am\u00e9nagement et de l\u2019environnement forestiers of the Minist\u00e8re des Ressources Naturelles et des For\u00eats (MRNF). His mandate then consisted in developing and coordinating the implementation of departmental guidelines for the application of ecosystem approaches to spatial organization of forests in the various bioclimatic areas of Quebec.<\/p>\r\n
In 2019, he joined the MNRF\u2019s Direction de la recherche foresti\u00e8re as head of the Service du soutien scientifique. From 2020 to 2023, he was head of the Service de la sylviculture et du rendement des for\u00eats in the same directorate. Since 2023, he has been director of forest research.<\/p>\r\n
