Catherine Larouche is a forest engineer, graduate of Universit\u00e9 Laval since 2002. She received a Master of Science degree in 2005 and a doctorate in 2009. During that time, she co-led work on the regeneration of Canadian and U.S. cedar with the University of Maine.<\/p>\r\n
In 2007, she started as a researcher at the Direction de la recherche foresti\u00e8re (DRF) working on complex-structure stands as well as silviculture and fill planting of resinous stands.<\/p>\r\n
From 2015 to 2017, she was acting department head of the Service de la sylviculture et de rendement des for\u00eats, then advisor on strategic operations and special projects.<\/p>\r\n
From 2017 to 2021, she served as strategic advisor to the Centre de services partag\u00e9s du Qu\u00e9bec and the minist\u00e8re de la S\u00e9curit\u00e9 publique, where she worked on Indigenous affairs.<\/p>\r\n
Returning to the DRF in 2021, Catherine is now head of the Service du soutien scientifique. She directs the work of the teams in biometrics, dissemination and transfer of knowledge, experimental and teaching forests and research, geomatics, the Herbier du Qu\u00e9bec and the laboratory of organic and inorganic chemistry. She also coordinates many facets of the sustainable forest management research program.<\/p>\r\n
