Fran\u00e7ois H\u00e9bert is a biologist who graduated from the Universit\u00e9 du Qu\u00e9bec \u00e0 Chicoutimi in 2001. He obtained a master\u2019s degree in renewable resources from the same institution in 2004 and a doctorate in forest sciences from Universit\u00e9 Laval in 2010.<\/p>\r\n
Following these graduate studies, he completed a postdoctoral internship in grass surface development at the University of Guelph in 2010. He has also been a forest engineer since 2019 and an associate professor at the Universit\u00e9 du Qu\u00e9bec \u00e0 Chicoutimi.<\/p>\r\n
When he first joined the Direction de la recherche foresti\u00e8re (DRF) from 2011 to 2015, Fran\u00e7ois was part of the plantation forestry team and was interested in the effect of thinning and pruning on growth and wood quality, in addition to being a specialist in the management of forest invasive alien plants such as glossy and European buckthorns.<\/p>\r\n
From 2018 to 2022, he was a forest fire management specialist at the Direction de la protection des for\u00eats of the Minist\u00e8re des Ressources naturelles et des For\u00eats.<\/p>\r\n
Since returning to the DRF in 2022, Fran\u00e7ois has been interested in adaptation silviculture for climate change and more specifically in the operational feasibility of different silvicultural adaptation measures and the impact of these on the growth and physiology of forest species.<\/p>\r\n
