{"id":1083,"count":16,"description":"Daniel Dumais is a forest engineering graduate from Laval University (B. Sc. A., 1998, M. Sc., 2000). Through his graduate studies, he gained expertise in tree ecophysiology and frost acclimation.\r\n\r\nIn 2000, he was recruited as a research professional at the Centre de recherche en biologie foresti\u00e8re [Forest Biology Research Center] of Laval University. He then participated in a study on the acclimation of black spruce to the increase of atmospheric CO2<\/sub> concentration.\r\n\r\nIn 2001, he was hired by the Direction de la recherche foresti\u00e8re as a scientist researcher in natural forest silviculture and participated in research projects on scarification and drainage in black spruce forests.\r\n\r\nSince 2003, his work has been focused on tree ecophysiology and particularly on the study of acclimation and growth processes of natural and artificial regeneration (planted seedlings) following partial cuts. He is especially interested in the regeneration and conservation of declining forest species such as red spruce and eastern white cedar.\r\n\r\nThrough his work, he contributes to the development of silvicultural treatments adapted to boreal and temperate mixedwood forests.
