Guillaume Drolet has a bachelor\u2019s degree in forest management and environment (Laval University, 2003). During his studies, he worked in forest ecophysiology, particularly in the measurement of carbon fluxes over boreal forests. His master\u2019s research project (Laval University, 2009) sought to improve methods for quantifying the photosynthetic status of boreal forests using space technologies and measurements from flux towers.<\/p>\r\n
From 2009 to 2011, he was part of Caroline Nichols\u2019 remote sensing group (University of Edinburgh) where he acquired skills in measuring sun-induced fluorescence to estimate forest productivity. During that period, he also worked at developing automated systems to continuously monitor fluorescence and reflectance at the canopy level using spectrometric measurements, and studied their regional variability from airborne and satellite hyperspectral sensors.<\/p>\r\n
In 2011, he joined the modelling team at the Direction de la recherche foresti\u00e8re to work on the development and application of remote sensing methods to monitor the state of the forest cover. He is particularly interested in the dynamics of tree mortality on a regional scale as it is influenced by climatic, anthropogenic and biophysical factors.<\/p>\r\n
