{"id":1077,"count":5,"description":"Norman Dignard is a forest engineer who graduated from Laval University (B. Sc.) in 1981. In 1987, he obtained a master\u2019s degree (M. Sc.) in forest ecology and pedology from the same institution.\r\n\r\nStill in 1987, he was recruited by the Direction de la recherche foresti\u00e8re as a botanist and associate curator of the Herbier du Qu\u00e9bec, of which he was curator until his retirement in 2023. His activities focused on the floristics and taxonomy of Qu\u00e9bec\u2019s and Eastern North America\u2019s vascular flora as well as on the conservation and enhancement of the herbarium\u2019s collections. He was particularly interested in the floristic diversity of arctic and subarctic environments as well as in the study and protection of vulnerable plants, particularly in forest environments.\r\n\r\nHe took part in the characterization of the flora and vegetation of projected national parks or protected areas, and collaborated on the herbarium\u2019s website as well as the collection database. He was a member of the advisory committee on Qu\u00e9bec\u2019s threatened or vulnerable flora for 12 years.\r\n\r\nIn addition to having contributed to the\u00a0Flore nordique du Qu\u00e9bec et du Labrador<\/em>, he is the author of over a hundred reports, guides, scientific articles and book chapters.\r\n
